Original Press Release:

Delta's New 6

JUNE 20, 2002 - NEW YORK CITY, NY - Delta Machinery unveiled a new variable speed grinder - the model GR250 - today during a press conference at the Hotel InterContinental in New York City. Product Manager Angie Shelton said, "Delta's new 6" grinder offers a host of great features, but variable speed distinguishes this model as the perfect grinder for home workshop applications." The 2.5 amp, 120 volt motor offers speed ranges between 2,000 RPM and 3,450 RPM to tackle a variety of applications with just the right speed. For example, lower speed applications, which are performed with the white friable wheel, include sharpening and/or deburring edged tools such as wood or lathe chisels. Additionally, its tool rest provides an angular groove designed to properly angle drill bits as they are sharpened. The unit's white wheel, which is specially designed for sharpening, prevents the damage of tempered materials caused by heat build-up. Conversely, high speed applications involving metal stock removal, coarse grinding, and metal cutting are best suited for the unit's 60-grit gray grinding wheel. These include sharpening mower blades, shovel points, axes, etc. The model GR250's on-board storage area provides a convenient place to hold the wrench and diamond wheel dressing tool while they are not in use. Up-front controls allow for convenient speed adjustments during use as well as easy on/off operation. The model GR250 includes the basic unit, an adjustable lamp, see-through eye-guards, wrench, grinding wheels, and diamond wheel dressing tool as standard equipment. Currently available, it is expected to retail for approximately $79. Headquartered in Jackson, Tennessee, Delta Machinery, a subsidiary of Pentair, Inc.
