Vane Sensors are suitable for dirty applications.

Press Release Summary:

VN1015 Series employs Hall effect digital vane sensor and permanent magnet in 2 small towers, separated by .135 in. air gap. Output of Hall effect device switches when ferrous target passes between towers. Typical targets are linear or rotary vanes using square saw tooth or open slot in solid disk or band. Dimensions are .425 X .975 X .250 in. Temperature ratings are -40 to +85°C and -40 to +125°C. Supply voltage ranges from 5 to 24 Vdc.

Cherry Hall Effect Vane Sensors Ideal for Dirty Applications

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI - Cherry Electrical Products' VN1015 Series magnetic vane sensors provide robust, high-speed sensing in dirty, dusty environments. They are mechanically interchangeable with typical slotted optical switches, but can overcome the environmental problems that may interfere with optical switch performance, i.e., paper dust, dirt, oil or stray infrared light. Typical applications are in door/gate position control, exercise equipment and printers.

The VN1015 Series employs a Hall effect digital vane sensor and a permanent magnet in two small towers, separated by a .135" air gap. The output of the Hall effect device switches when a ferrous target passes between the towers. Typical targets are linear or rotary vanes using a square saw tooth or an open slot in a solid disk or band.

The vane sensors are encapsulated in a black, glass-filled polyester housing. Termination options include pins or 6-inch, 24 AWG, polyolefin leads. Package dimensions are .425"H x .975"L x .250"W. The distance between the centerlines of the mounting holes is .750".

Available temperature ratings are -40°C to +85°C and -40°C to +125°C. Supply voltage can range from 5 vdc to 24 vdc, and the maximum supply current is 6mA. A 3-wire current sinking output is standard. The output saturation voltage is 400mV maximum. The maximum operating speed varies greatly with the profile and material of the target, but applications at 7,500 to 10,000 rpm are common.
Cherry's VN1015 digital vane sensors are available from stock through authorized Cherry distributors.
