Valve Lockout fits wide range of valve types and sizes.

Press Release Summary:

Universal Valve Lockout fits virtually any size ball, gate, or butterfly valve. Body of unit includes built-in clamp, which is secure to valve handle. For butterfly valves, base of clamp prevents trigger from being compressed, which keeps valve from being opened. For ball and gate valves, unit uses blocking arm or cable attachment to prevent handle from being turned. Chemical- and corrosion-resistant lockout can also be used to lock valves in open position.

New Device Locks Out All Types Of Valves

Brady Universal Valve Lockout is an Industry First

MILWAUKEE - (October 21, 2004) - Valve lockout just got easier with the introduction of the Brady Universal Valve Lockout. Until now, ball, gate and butterfly valves required specific lockout devices. Different lockout devices were even required for different sizes of valves. The Universal Valve Lockout makes it possible to lock out a wide selection of valve types and sizes with a single device.

The Universal Valve Lockout lowers equipment costs. It can do the work of ten or more conventional lockout devices. It enhances safety and efficiency by making it easier for workers to pick the right device for the job, and by reducing the number of lockout devices they need to learn how to properly apply.

The product comes in two sizes, allowing it to fit virtually any size ball, gate or butterfly valve. The body of the unit includes a built- in clamp, which is secured to the valve handle.

For butterfly valves, the base of the clamp prevents the trigger from being compressed, which in turn keeps the valve from being opened. When locking out ball and gate valves, the Universal Valve Lockout uses a blocking arm or cable attachment to prevent the handle from being turned.

The Universal Valve Lockout's compact size makes it easy to store and transport. Its rugged construction stands up to tough industrial environments and resists chemicals and corrosion. The lockout offers two cable options: nonconductive nylon and rust-resistant, sheathed metal.

As an added benefit, the Universal Valve Lockout can be used to lock valves in the open and throttled position. While not a lockout/ tagout application, locking the valve in the open position is a useful capability when operational control is required. For example, during production a valve may be locked open to prevent people from inadvertently shutting off flow.

Valve lockouts are an important element in a lockout/tagout program. Call 1-888-272-3946 for information on Brady's safety, facility and equipment identification products, or visit www.bradyid.com.
