Valencell Showcases the Future at CES 2016

Brings highly accurate, comprehensive biometric data to wearables, connecting the dots between fitness and health, including ability to accurately estimate blood pressure with optical biometric technology

LAS VEGAS - 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show, Booth #74331 Tech West --Valencell, a leader in biometric data sensor technology, today announced that it will map the ability to accurately estimate blood pressure using an all-optical method that does not require a blood pressure cuff or calibration at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show. This innovative new application of biometric sensor technology, currently still under development by Valencell, will ultimately enable users to estimate blood pressure without having to use a blood pressure cuff, and with sufficient accuracy to assess the need for medical interventions, per the AMA's clinical guidelines for hypertension. Moreover, Valencell's solution provides blood pressure estimates combined with important sensor-specific statistical information that can help users assess the likelihood of false positives and false negatives. This is a preview into what's coming and what's viable with highly accurate biometric data as the industry begins to connect the dots between fitness and health.

At CES 2016, in Las Vegas, booth #74331, Valencell will discuss this capability, along with its newest innovations in wearable technology, including demonstrations of how biometric data can provide a new dimension of entertainment in gameplay while generating actionable health assessments in the background.

Valencell's PerformTek® biometric sensor technology is robust, offering highly accurate valuable data that connects fitness metrics with health insights. Valencell's biometric sensor systems power more biometric wearables on the market today than any other company in the world and these products will be on display in the Valencell booth, including:

    --  Sony's Smart B-Trainer

--  Jabra's Sport Pulse Wireless Earbuds

--  LG's Heart Rate Monitor earphones

    --  ATLAS's Wristband

    --  Caeden's Sona Connected Bracelet

    --  Kuaiwear's Kuai Multi-sport Wearable Coach

--  ClipTalk's Alupro Health Bluetooth Headset

In addition, Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, president and co-founder of Valencell, will discuss biometric wearables, new applications of biometrics, and connecting the dots between fitness and health during CES at the FitnessTech Summit on Wednesday, January 6, at 2:05 p.m.

"This is an exciting time for the biometric wearable industry, with the confluence of accurate biometric sensor technology, a myriad of popular form-factors, and intriguing new use cases driving the opportunity for new products and new markets," said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, President of Valencell. "The importance of tracking blood pressure for managing and preventing hypertension is well-known in the industry, but the process of assessing blood pressure is annoying and cumbersome. The goal of Valencell's innovation is to make biometric monitoring easy, affordable, and seamless with everyday living, so that more accurate data can be taken frequently enough to drive personalized health guidance. This new capability provides a perfect example of how Valencell is connecting the dots between fitness and health."

In 2015, Valencell saw a record year of growth with its PerformTek biometric sensor technology, with a 133 percent increase in licensees over 2014. With over 25 licensees and 29 patents, plus dozens of additional patents pending, Valencell continues to see global demand for highly accurate biometric sensor technology with significant growth in ear and wrist wearables.

Valencell licenses its biometric sensor technology to enable customers to create custom-designed biometric wearable devices. Valencell also recently introduced BioPack™, a turn-key biometric sensor system with the complete PerformTek technology package ready for immediate integration into wrist and arm wearable devices.

Valencell's PerformTek technology is the choice of leading brands, including Sony, LG, Intel/SMS Audio, Jabra, Scosche, Atlas Wearables, Caeden, ClipTalk, Kuaiwear, Bioconnected, and iriver among numerous others. PerformTek is the only technology available that continuously measures heart rate, VO(2), calories burned, cadence and much more with unmatched, scientifically-validated accuracy.
