Fusion's New Light Hammer® 10 - Designed to be Better

GAITHERSBURG, MD, November 10, 2003 - At RadTech Europe 2003, Fusion UV Systems launched it's Light Hammer® 10 (LH10), a high power 10" (250mm) UV curing system, designed to provide a higher degree of conversion, higher speeds and better depth of cure than typically achieved with other UV sources.

Responding to market demands, Fusion UV set out to develop a multi lamp system that provides greater efficiency from the power supply, remote monitoring and access, and which operates using industry standard communication protocols.

The Light Hammer® 10 has achieved all this and more. Operating at 600W/inch, it features two easy-to-service modular components: a microwave powered irradiator and a solid-state power supply.

The microwave technology combines a small diameter, electrodeless bulb with an elliptical reflector to provide high peak of UV irradiance for high-speed cure. It also reduces infrared emissions, resulting in lower substrate surface temperatures, thus eliminating complicated heat removal methods.

In operation this solid-state power supply is cooler and more efficient than other alternatives, reducing operating costs and environmental noise, and eliminates the need for bulky HV transformers or capacitors, allowing the LH10 to achieve a lower cost of ownership, Power output from 35% to 100% is easily controlled, allowing matching of lamp output to machine/line speed or ink/coating demands.

Utilizing built-in communications software, the LH10 control system allows multiple lamp systems to be interconnected and remotely controlled individually or as a group. It also enables the collection of operational data to enhance preventative maintenance and line productivity.

This exciting new addition to Fusion UV's comprehensive product offering was formally introduced November 3rd at RadTech Europe 2003 in Berlin Germany.
