UTStarcom Personal Communications Unveils Its Next Generation Ultra-Thin, Bar-Style Camera Phone

ORLANDO, Fla. and HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., March 28 /- UTStarcom Personal Communications, a division of UTStarcom, Inc. (NASDAQ:UTSI), unveils one of the thinnest, lightest, most attractive, functional and convenient models on the cell phone market. UTStarcom's next generation device is one of the thinnest CDMA bar-style camera phones in the U.S., measuring just 0.4" thin. The phone makes its debut at the UTStarcom Personal Communications booth (#3962) at CTIA Wireless March 27-29 in Orlando, FL.

Slim enough to slip into a designer wristlet or shirt front pocket, the new handset measures 4.4" (h) x 1.9" (w) x 0.4" (d), weighs a mere 2.5 ounces, and has an internal antenna which contributes toward its sleek form factor. This compact handset doesn't scrimp on features. It is equipped with Bluetooth® technology for wire-free hands-free calling; Web browsing powered by Openwave 6.3.0.7; and other popular features such as a built-in speakerphone and voice-activated dialing.

"The saying 'best things come in small packages' holds true with this device," says Philip Christopher, president of UTStarcom Personal Communications. "This phone will offer high-end design and functionality, but not a high price."

Cell phone and camera in one, this mobile device features a VGA CMOS camera and a 1.8" 65K Color TFT (128 x 160) color main display that supports JPG, PNG, GIF87, and BMP video formats. Users can download their favorite polyphonic ringtones (CMX 72) in MIDI, MP3, QCP, CMX, and PMD audio formats.

Equipped with the MSM6125L chipset, the bar-style phone has a 64 MB Flash/32 MB RAM memory capacity. Other features include text messaging with T9 predictive text, voice memo, a 500-entry phone book, two pre-loaded games, TTY/TTD capabilities and E911 support.
