MGE UPS Achieves Exceptional Power Density Breakthrough with New Digital Quality Power Systems - New Pulsar EX RT Family Most Powerful UPS for High-Density Rack Applications

COSTA MESA, Calif.-June 14, 2004-Furthering its commitment to provide network administrators with unsurpassed power protection solutions for mission-critical networks, MGE has expanded its new Pulsar EX RT family of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to include three new models in the popular 700VA to 1500VA power range. IT professionals managing application servers, VoIP, storage networks and high-density rack applications will appreciate the Pulsar EX RT's Digital Quality Power technology that provides the highest-level of pure on-line power protection in a compact 2U (3.5) form factor.

The modular 700, 1000 and 1500VA models complete the Pulsar EX RT family that now ranges from 700VA to 3200VA. Complete with hot-swappable batteries, the Pulsar EX RT 700, 1000, 1500, 2200 and 3200VA models feature a versatile form factor suitable for use in freestanding tower or compact 2U rack configurations. "Now, network managers have available to them the most comprehensive and powerful on-line UPS family that is truly optimized for high-density rack applications," stated MGE Product Manager, Long Tran. "Our Digital Quality Power technology delivers pure power combined with complete network integration software and communication connectivity, providing users with a complete, easy-to-integrate solution for protecting their IT systems."

By incorporating true on-line double-conversion UPS topology with built-in automatic bypass, MGE's Pulsar EX RT units are designed for robust operation including the ability to add extended battery packs or fuel cell modules for multi-hour backup times. On-line operation also assures the highest level of power conditioning and optimized battery life as well as compatibility with engine generators and fuel cell systems for even longer backup requirements.

The modular systems are easy to configure and include a number of standard features available only as options on other systems. All of the new models from 700VA to 1500VA include a standard 15A NEMA input plug and eight standard receptacles on the rear panel for easy connection of critical equipment.

All Pulsar EX RT models include USB and serial ports for communication and power management with included software for current Windows operating systems as well as several versions of UNIX, Macintosh, Novell and legacy Windows OS. In addition, the Pulsar models include rack-mounting hardware kits that are typically added-cost options from other manufacturers. Standard units also feature MGE's Powershare technology that enables users to remotely reboot systems and gracefully turn off less critical equipment for "load shedding" in order to maximize backup time for the most important devices connected to the UPS.

Available options include additional battery packs or fuels cells (3200VA model only) for extended runtime, a manual Source Transfer Switch (STS) and communications options for SNMP, enhanced web monitoring and NMS integration for HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, NetView, CA Unicenter and others.

Available now, the new models meet worldwide standards for safety and performance including UL, TUV and CE. List prices start at $680 for the 700VA system complete with MGE's Solution Pac power management software.
