Beneficial for the converting, label, narrow web, paper, fiber and wire industries. Features were designed in response to the growing field of APowered Unwinds@. Fragile webs, non-wovens, fibers, and thin films are converting to powered unwinds since the web can=t handle the high tensions needed to accelerate high inertia rolls in older drag brake schemes.
Eliminating the surface encoders and awkward lay-on rolls greatly simplifies the designs. Knowing calculated roll diameters and roll total content allows convenient triggers and alarms for roll change-outs.
