Universal Power Supply Drives Non-Linear Load on Output


A new, MIL-qualified power converter that provides electrical isolation between input power and an electrically noisy load, and maintains a unity power factor when driving a non-linear load on output is being introduced by Diversified Technologies, Inc. of Bedford, Massachusetts.

The DTI PCS-5000 Universal Power Supply is a fully isolated high frequency power converter that employs solid-state switching and control algorithms to provide very high output waveform fidelity, with low harmonics and distortion on the output. Capable of functioning as a frequency converter, load isolator, and AC/AC or AC/DC power supply, it appears to the line as essentially a resistive load, with unity power factor and harmonics.

MIL-qualified for submarine applications, the DTI PCS-5000 Universal Power Supply is rack-mountable and provides 1500 Watts of power, with the input and output galvanically isolated. The output can be DC or 50 to 400 Hz. Offering high power density, this technology is scalable with full over-voltage and over-current protection up to +30% or preset to ±0.1% max. ripple.
