Supertex Expands Integrated Ultrasound Pulser Family

HV758 Delivers Up To ±90V Output For Medical Ultrasound Imaging Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 7, 2007- Supertex (NasdaqGS: SUPX), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the HV758, a new, fully integrated, high voltage, high speed, four channel ultrasound pulser IC. The IC brings together the controller logic interface circuitry, level translators, MOSFET gate drive buffers and high current, high voltage outputs in an 8x8 millimeter, 64-lead, monolithic package. It is ideal for stationary medical ultrasound imaging systems as well as high-end transportable and portable systems and piezoelectric, capacitive, or MEMS transducers in non-destructive testing (NDT) and sonar range detection applications.

The HV758 features built-in output drain bleed resistors for noise reduction, up to 20MHz operating frequency, and matched delay times. It employs a direct coupling topology to facilitate easier board layout. The IC's source and sink currents are specified at ±2.2A in pulsed wave (PW) mode and ±580mA in continuous wave (CW) mode.

"With its CMOS digital logic interface, the ability to operate in PW mode with currents as high as 2.2A and in CW mode at 0.58A, matched output delay times and up to a 20MHz operating frequency, the HV758 is an ideal solution for the next generation of medical ultrasound and NDT machines," states Ahmed Masood, Vice President of Marketing for Supertex. "This highly integrated four channel pulser IC comes in a small FCBGA package, enabling system manufacturers to increase their channel density for superior ultrasound image resolution, using minimal board space."

The HV758 is available in a 64-lead FCBGA package. The part is available in both RoHS-compliant and leaded versions (HV758FB-G and HV758FB, respectively). Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 8-10 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$20.96 each for both the HV758FB and the HV758FB-G in 1K quantities.
