Multilingual Portable Ultrasonic Flowmeter

Panametrics announces the release of language translation files for its PT878 TransPort® Portable Transit-Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter. Based on XML, a universal format for structured documents and data originally designed for the Web, translation files are available in English/foreign language sets for French, German, Italian, Dutch, Castilian Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, and Swedish. The files can be supplied with the meter at the time of purchase or uploaded at a later date via the PT878's built-in IR port and FLASH memory.

The PT878 uses clamp-on ultrasonic transducers to measure liquid flow rate in metal, plastic or lined pipes ranging from 1/2 inch to 300 inches diameter for applications with 400:1 turndown ratio at temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). The unit is designed for rugged, industrial work and is submersible to IP67. A rubber boot with a built-in stand protects and secures the electronics. An adjustable hand strap makes the lightweight package easy to carry with just one hand. The PT878 can log over 100,000 data points and then download the information to a PC. One to four parameters can be displayed simultaneously in split screens on the large LCD with electroluminescent backlight.

A complete system includes the battery-operated, rechargeable PT878 electronics, a set of two ultrasonic transducers, a clamping fixture, and transducer cables that fit into a durable carrying case the size of a briefcase. Optional equipment includes a thickness gauge for determining pipe-wall thickness.
