Turning Tool eliminates turret indexes.

Press Release Summary:

Based on variation of conventional trigon-shaped carbide insert, Pentatec Indexable Carbide Turning Tool is capable of drilling holes down to .315 in. Helical geometry and large, single helical flute maximize chip evacuation. Insert can machine carbon and alloy steels, aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron. In typical application, Pentatec can drill small hole; rough, finish, and chamfer bore; then rough and finish-turn OD of work piece face.

One Tool, Five Operations - LMT-Fette's New Pentatec Turning Tool is the Epitome of Efficiency

Cleveland, OH - (August 2, 2004) Drilling, boring, facing, turning and counter boring can all be performed with a single Pentatec Indexable Carbide Turning Tool. One of LMT-Fette's latest innovations, the patented Pentatec cuts tool change times, and eliminates turret indexes, for machining time reductions up to 30%.

The design of the Pentatec is based on a variation of the conventional trigon-shaped carbide insert. The Pentatec is capable of drilling holes down to 8 mm (.315") making it also the industry's smallest indexable drill. What's more, its helical geometry and large, single helical flute maximize chip evacuation. This enables the Pentatec to perform exceptionally well as an indexable drill, and also in boring applications where chip evacuation is critical.

In a typical application example, the Pentatec can drill a small hole, and then rough, finish and chamfer the bore. Next, the Pentatec can rough and finish turn the O.D. of the work piece face. The result is a dramatic reduction in cycle time from a workpiece being machined completely with a single tool.

The design of the Pentatec insert maximizes cost effectiveness with three complete edges per insert. Available in two inserts grades and two optimized geometries, the Pentatec can machine carbon and alloy steels, aluminum, stainless steel and cast iron. Steel gear blanks and bearing races can be machined quickly and cost effectively with a single Pentatec tool.
