Turbine Flowmeters feature axial design.

Press Release Summary:

Series EFR Enhanced Floating Rotor, Precision Turbine Flowmeters measure liquid and gas flows to custody transfer standards. Made of stainless steel and exotic metals, units are available in all industry standard end-fittings. Hydraulically-balanced rotor is mounted on shaft between flow cones at right angle to flow. Pressure drop is typically 1 psid at nominal flow. Resulting flows can be measured at accuracy of up to .15% with .02% repeatability within linear measurement ranges.

EFR (Enhanced Floating Rotor) Precision Turbine Flowmeter

Sponsler, Inc., a Unit of IDEX Corporation, announces the EFR Series (Enhanced Floating Rotor) Precision Turbine Flowmeter. Available in all industry standard end-fittings, the EFR Series is designed to measure liquid and gas flows to custody transfer standards. Materials of construction include stainless steel and exotic metals. Special corrosive applications are met with the use of composites. The axial design of the meter provides a rotor that is mounted on a shaft between flow cones at right angle to the flow. The meter is designed around the Bernoulli Principle, which essentially states that when flow velocity decreases, the static pressure increases. Therefore, a high-pressure area exists at the downstream side of the rotor exerting an upstream force on the rotor. As a result, the rotor is hydraulically balanced on its axis, essentially "floating" between the cones. As a result of the EFR Series design, requirements for downstream thrust bearings are eliminated because the rotor does not rest against any surface when operating in its linear range. Additionally, due to the unique design of the turbine rotor, the meter represents a very small pressure drop, typically 1 psid at nominal flow. Resulting flows can be measured at accuracy of up to .15% with .02% repeatability within linear measurement ranges. Sponsler, Inc. has gained a reputation as a manufacturer of quality precision flow products for more than thirty years.
