Turbine Flowmeter suits high-pressure environments.

Press Release Summary:

Equipped with MS33514 end-fittings, HP Series performs liquid flow measurements in high-pressure (5,000 psig continuous, 7,500 psig proof, and 25,000+ psig burst) laboratory and testing environments. Accuracy is +0.25% of reading, response time is 2-3 msec or faster, and calibrations are directly traceable to NIST standards. With standard K-factor (10:1 flow ratio) calibration, meter provides frequency output linear to within ±0.5% with liquids up to 1.26 centistokes viscosity.

COX Instruments Introduces HP Series Precision Turbine Flowmeter

Rugged meter designed for use in high-pressure laboratory and testing environments

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 5, 2008 -- COX Instruments, a leading supplier of high-accuracy liquid and gas flow measurement solutions, today announced the introduction of the HP Series precision turbine flowmeter. Available in a wide range of sizes, and featuring MS33514 end-fittings, the HP Series is a rugged meter designed for demanding, high-pressure applications.

The HP Series turbine flowmeter performs accurate liquid flow measurements across a wide flow range. The meter is rated for pressures up to 5,000 psig (continuous), 7,500 psig (proof), and 25,000+ psig (burst). It offers accuracy of +0.25 percent of reading, and response time of 2-3 mS or faster.

All HP Series flowmeter calibrations are directly traceable to standards established by the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). With standard K-factor (10:1 flow ratio) calibration, the meter provides a frequency output linear to within ±0.5 percent over the entire flow range with liquids up to 1.26 centistokes viscosity. With special calibration, ±0.5 percent linearity can be achieved at any one viscosity up to the meter's linear viscosity limit. At higher viscosities, the output is non-linear, but repeatable.

Standard K-ranges for the HP Series are available from 0.25-2.5 to 25-250 gallons-per-minute (GPM), depending upon meter size. Standard constant K-Factor calibrations are available on MIL-C-7024C, Type 2, at 80 degrees F only.

With 20-point loop calibrations (10 points upscale and 10 points down-scale), ±0.5 percent linearity over extended flow ranges is available on fluids where viscosity does not exceed 1.26 centistokes. Standard extended ranges, using carrier pickoffs, are available in all sizes from 0.20-3.0 (HPC8-4) up to 3.1-310 (HPC 32) GPM.

COX precision turbine meters provide a linear extended range from 15:1 on small meters, ranging up to 100:1 on two-inch meters, without the use of linearizing electronics. This performance is achieved through a precision helical rotor design, proper use of rotor supports, and minimal bearing friction.

COX Instruments has provided hundreds of thousands of quality turbine flowmeters to customers with demanding liquid and gas flow metering requirements. COX manufactures the meter-of-choice for critical flow measurement applications and is the standard in the aerospace and test & measurement industries. The HP Series is delivered within 4-6 weeks. As a preferred supplier, COX Instruments' Precision AN Series Flowmeters are delivered within 2-4 weeks, pending calibration requirements.

COX Instruments utilizes the services of Flow Dynamics, Inc. to perform all of its flowmeter calibrations. Flow Dynamics was the first independent flow laboratory to receive the prestigious NVLAP accreditation from the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) in conformance with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). COX's NVLAP-certified flowmeter calibrations are fully traceable to NIST guidelines and also comply with ISO 17025, ISO 9002, ISO Guide 25, ANSI/NCSL Z-540, and MIL-STD-45662A.
