June 2019 — Santa Clara, California, USA — Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower has launched a new series of low-profile, open-frame power supplies addressing the need for 500W solutions that support the medical sector.
The new TSM500 series comes as an open frame PCB in a low profile 5” (L) by 3” (W) by 1.38” (H) and is able to deliver 508.6W of continuous output power with 25 CFM of user provided forced air cooling or 240W at convection cooling. It offers a single output of 12V, 15V, 19V, 24V, 30V, 36V or 48V at efficiencies up to 92%, model dependent.
The power supply can withstand voltages of 4,000 VAC from input to output and 2,000 VAC from input to ground. The power supply unit is equipped with remote on/off capabilities and 5V standby and fan power with a no load power consumption of 1W typically. The series has an earth leakage current measuring 100µA maximum at 240 VAC, 60 Hz.
Operating at a 90 to 264 VAC universal input, the series supports a wide range of environmental conditions including operating altitudes up to 5,000 meters and operating temperatures between -40°C to +70°C ambient, while derating linearly from 100% load at +50°C to 50% load at +70°C. The power supply is also equipped with standard overvoltage, overload, and short circuit protections. It has 200,000 hours-minimum MTBF at full load, 25°C ambient, calculated per MIL-HDBK-217F, making it a highly reliable power supply.
The TSM500 is approved to the latest medical standards, including IEC/EN/UL 60601-1 Edition 3.1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1: 2012, and CSA C22.2 No. 60601-1: 2014. The PCB power supply complies with IEC/EN 60601-1-2 4th edition medical EMC and immunity standards including FCC/VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, and EN 61000-4-11.
