Original Press Release:

Powerglide Trolley with Retractable Wheels Provides Ultimate Solution for Moving Equipment Electrification

PowerGlide, a patent pending trolley design with retractable wheels used on a joint-free, solid copper conductor that provides the ultimate solution to electrifying moving equipment, is available from U-S Safety Trolley Systems, a Division of Universal Electric Corp., Pittsburgh, Pa. PowerGlide allows users to easily install the trolley anywhere along the conductor housing, and removing the trolley for routine maintenance can also be accomplished in minutes. PowerGlide is a reliable and durable electrification method for hoists, monorails, cranes and a variety of moving equipment.

PowerGlide's unique PowerPickup trolley has retractable wheels allowing the unit to be inserted or removed anywhere along the aluminum housing. Simply twisting a knob retracts the wheels so that the trolley can fit into the conductor track. Once in place, twist the knob and the trolley engages the housing to provide a free rolling connection to power.

PowerGlide is a compact mobile electrification system that features a one-piece insulator containing three or four solid copper conductors. The joint-free conductors, supplied in a roll, eliminate the weak link common in most conventional electrification systems. Optional rubber sealing strips are available to provide protection from dirt, dust and other contaminants when used in harsh environments.

Installation Time Savinqs Key
Installation of PowerGlide is quick and easy significantly reducing the time needed for conventional systems. Also, the PowerGlide's durable aluminum housing and coupler combination requires half the number of hangers and mounting brackets providing a significant cost savings on components and the time needed to install them.

The PowerGlide run snaps into mounting hangers every 10 feet to support the conductor systems. Power is supplied to the conductor through an end feed. The PowerPickup is mounted to the moving equipment with pulling chains and has solid copper contact shoes that guarantee positive contact along the conductors. PowerGlide is available in two sizes with either a 3 pole, 50 amp or 90 amp copper conductor or a 4 pole, 50 amp or 90 amp copper conductor. The conductor system is UL listed.
