Details Complete Product Roadmap Including DisplayPort Receiver Devices

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 28 // -- Analogix Semiconductor, an innovator in high performance analog and mixed signal devices for the digital media market, today announced the sampling of the industry's first functional DisplayPort(TM) and legacy DVI IC, the ANX9801 DisplayPort transmitter, which is based on the standard backed by the Display Systems Committee of VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association).

Analogix's ANX9801 DisplayPort transmitter targets PC graphics adapter boards and provides the benefits of deep color and WQXGA resolution. The ANX9801 also includes a single link DVI + HDCP transmitter circuit, thereby offering legacy digital interface support, which enables output to an HDMI display as well. Analogix's entire DisplayPort product line and IP cores aim to reduce development costs and bill of materials for all DisplayPort adopters.

"DisplayPort leverages technologies implemented in bit-serial communications to reduce cost and increase bandwidth limitations for advanced displays," said Bill Eichen, President & COO Analogix. "We are enthusiastic about the support and interest expressed by the DisplayPort industry leaders in our product line."

In addition to the ANX9801, Analogix also announced it will begin sampling its ANX9811 DisplayPort receiver ICs in Q4 2006, and a family of related DisplayPort devices in Q1 of 2007. List pricing for the ANX9801 is $3.25 each in10k volumes.

DisplayPort Interface Specification

The DisplayPort interface specification, ratified in May 2006 by VESA, is backed by Dell, HP, Lenovo, ATI, NVIDIA, Genesis, Samsung, Philips, LG and other leaders in the PC and display markets. DisplayPort provides a high- quality digital interface for video and audio content in a highly extensible format. This enables a wide range of source and display devices to be simply and securely connected. The standard has broad applications including LCD, plasma, CRT and projection displays, as well as PCs and other sources of image content. DisplayPort is an open standard.
