Habco Introduces New Transmission Oil Servicing Cart for Military

Extends Component Life up to 300%

Glastonbury, CT, March 7, 2006 --- Habco, Inc., a leader in providing innovative testing and ground support equipment to military, commercial aerospace, industrial and power-generation markets, announced it has developed a new transmission oil servicing cart that improves lubricant filtration to extend component life up to 300%.

The SK4051TSU is a self-contained Transmission Servicing Cart designed to filter and store gearbox lubrication oil during routine service procedures on a variety of rotary-wing aircraft. A study initiated by the U.S. Army to determine how lubricant oil filtration affects transmission performance concluded that "improving lubricant filtration from 15 microns to 3 microns can extend component life up to 300%, and possibly more." Habco's new transmission oil servicing cart filters recycled transmission fluid to 3 microns, making it cleaner and higher performing than new transmission fluid, which has particulates of 10 microns or larger.

Field tests of the new TSU product indicate it saves time, reduces waste and improves performance. "The (3-micron particle) filter removes impurities and actually makes the oil cleaner than when it comes to us," said Robert J. Anno, aircraft mechanic supervisor, AASF #1 Topeka, Kansas. "Also, filtering new oil means that we don't have to change out clogged transmission filters as often." At the "Desert Warriors" National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, Aviation Maintenance Officer CW4 Jeffrey S. Psyck reported using the TSU to both de-service and re-service UH-60 main transmissions. "So far, the cart has worked beautifully on the UH-60s and we plan to use the TSU on the UH-1, as needed. We are very pleased with how easy it is to use, and the drain/ refill job is now a much cleaner operation."
