New OTEC Transfer Switch Delivers Reliable, Cost-Effective Load Transfer



MINNEAPOLIS - The new OTEC Automatic Transfer Switch from Cummins Power Generation is designed to provide dependable and cost-effective load transfer for a wide range of emergency and standby power applications. Featuring an easy-to-use microprocessor-based control panel, the new OTEC switch provides reliable load transfer between a utility service and generator set.

"The new OTEC combines the simplicity and reliability of a microprocessor-based transfer switch in a cost-effective package," says David Voissem, Transfer Switch Engineer, Cummins Power Generation. "The OTEC is suitable for use in all emergency standby applications including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, office buildings, light industrial facilities, water plants, retail stores and more."

Standard features include open transition load transfer with selectable Phase Check or Programmed Transition; 3-phase utility voltage sensing and single phase sensing on the generator; front panel push buttons and indicators for easy set-up; adjustable time delays and an integral exercise clock to aid in generator maintenance. The OTEC switch is UL1008 listed and CSA certified with a UL Type 1 enclosure as standard. The switch is available in ratings from 40 through 1000 amps, 3 or 4-pole configurations, up to 600 VAC. Optional features include a fully programmable exerciser clock for greater flexibility, an elevator signal relay to enhance operation with elevator systems, battery chargers, and UL Type 3R, 4 and 12 enclosures.
