Tyco Electronics Introduces New Singlemode Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) LC Transceivers
Harrisburg, PA, March 24, 2003 - Tyco Electronics introduces a complete line of singlemode, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) Transceivers with the industry recognized LC interface. This product line will address the needs of SONET/SDH/ATM and Gigabit Ethernet applications in the Enterprise, Telecommunications Access, and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) markets.
Tyco Electronics is taking advantage of its vertical integration by incorporating its own FP Lasers in all new singlemode SFP LC Transceivers. These transceivers have been extensively tested to Telcordia GR-468-CORE specifications and are available with either a push-tab or bail latch extraction method.
Products available include Gigabit Ethernet, Dual Rate Fibre Channel and OC-3/12/48. The singlemode LC Transceivers are rated for commercial applications. Extended Range versions are anticipated for full qualification and release later in 2003.
Tyco Electronics' singlemode SFP LC Transceivers are internally calibrated to allow customers to accurately generate and analyze transceiver parameters. This new line of SFP LC transceivers will offer digital diagnostics, which allows for real time monitoring of electrical and optical transceiver parameters. These digital diagnostic features were developed in compliance with the SFF-8472 Specification. To access the digital diagnostics, an evaluation kit with hardware and software, the accompanying software comes equipped with warnings and alarms to provide the OEM with a fast and accurate diagnosis of transceiver parameters, such as Tx and Rx Output Power, Module Temperature, Bias Current, and Module Voltage.
These new singlemode LC SFP Transceivers join Tyco Electronics' existing 850nm SFP modules incorporating both LC and MT-RJ interfaces for Ethernet, SONET/SDH/ATM, and Fibre Channel applications.
