TOTAL Selects LogicaCMG's Prodis Hydrocarbon Management System

LONDON, September 12/ --

o Project Delivered on Time for First Gas From New North Sea Field

LogicaCMG today announces it has successfully completed an upgrade and extension of LogicaCMG's Hydrocarbon Accounting SystProdis em which is managing the commercial allocation of TOTAL E&P UK PLC's (TOTAL) Elgin/Franklin and Glenelg fields. The enhanced system was delivered on time for the first gas from the TOTAL operated Glenelg field in the North Sea.

The Glenelg field utilises processing capacity within the Elgin Franklin process facilities. Production from the Glenelg field is therefore commingled with Elgin/Franklin production. The combined Elgin/Franklin facilities'
export liquids are transported in the Forties Pipeline System (FPS) to the Kinneil Terminal for processing. The combined export gas is transported in the Shearwater Elgin Area Line (SEAL) Pipeline to the SEAL Terminal for conditioning. The Glenelg field has a different ownership to that of the Elgin/Franklin fields and acts as a separate source in SEAL and stream in FPS. In order to support Glenelg, and to help reduce the impact of adding other third party fields in future TOTAL has defined a new procedure to establish each field's share of the commingled export streams.

"TOTAL selected LogicaCMG on the strength of their expertise in this area; LogicaCMG had already developed the original Elgin/Franklin commercial allocation system and the SEAL system with which an interface is required", said Alison Herbertson, Head of Business Application Support, TOTAL.

The bespoke solution facilitates the accurate allocation of hydrocarbons from the Elgin/Franklin and Glenelg fields. TOTAL is responsible for operating the facilities/fields and ensuring compliance with the contractual requirements, as well as reporting to its co-venturers. LogicaCMG's Prodis solution performs the calculation of daily, monthly and annual reports, that enable TOTAL to meet its obligations in a timely and auditable way.

Iain McKendrick, Joint Ventures Manager, TOTAL stated: "The Elgin/Franklin partnership is committed to bringing fields across the Elgin/Franklin platform in the future. In order to attract future tie-backs and ensure their success, it is important that the complexity and cost of implementing commercial allocation systems be reduced. TOTAL has therefore worked with LogicaCMG to ensure a scaleable solution has been implemented."

Paul Muscat, business director oil and gas, LogicaCMG UK adds: "I am particularly pleased with the way that TOTAL and LogicaCMG have developed their relationship and worked together over the course of this project. We have delivered a solution that supports the business and is well regarded by the users. The technology upgrade delivered as part of this project will help to ensure its longevity for TOTAL and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Hydrocarbon Accounting solutions."
