STANLEY-PROTO INTRODUCES HIGH ACCESS ERGONOMIC BI-MATERIAL GRIP TORQUE WRENCHES

Covington, Georgia - December 12, 2001 - Stanley-PROTO introduces its new line of Micrometer Torque Wrenches that combine the innovative features of the Big Dawg ratchet with the industry's first bi-material ergonomic grip. These new wrenches offer key user benefits such as a low-profile head, reduced articulation, improved comfort, and slip resistance.

THE STANLEY-PROTO MICROMETER TORQUE WRENCHES, AVAILABLE IN FIXED AND RATCHETING HEAD DRIVE SIZES OF 1/4 INCH, 1/8 INCH AND 1/2 INCH, FEATURE THE BIG DAWGT RATCHET'S HEAD WITH A 6.80 ARTICULATION THAT ENABLES TECHNICIANS TO USE THE TOOL IN TIGHTER SPACES AND A NINE-TOOTH CONTACT WITH THE GEAR THAT INCREASES TORQUE TRANSFER AND CYCLE LIFE.

Technicians will notice improved comfort from the tool's grip and benefit from reduced slippage. Testing has shown that the grip is effective whether a technician's hands are dry or wet, and it is resistant to shop fluids and degradation from water, oil, greases, fungus, and other chemicals. The grip material is made from the same plastics currently used in a vehicle's intake manifolds, struts, bushings and seals that can withstand temperature variations from -400 to 1850 Fahrenheit.

The easy-to-read markings enhance technicians' consistency when setting torque. The newly designed wrenches have fewer parts, resulting in lower calibration drift and increased reliability.

"Stanley-PROTO has a commitment to innovation and when professionals use the new Micrometer Torque Wrenches they can be assured that we have integrated the latest technology while maintaining the core quality and reliability the Protor brand is known for," said Kathie Durante, Wrench Global Product Manager for Stanley-PROTO.
