Mate Introduces the New Premia(TM) Sharpening System for all Popular Tooling Styles -- Features Touch Screen Interface and Universal Fixture

Anoka, Minnesota: Mate introduces its new, state-of-the-art Premia™ Sharpening System for automated, precision sharpening of all popular punch press tooling styles.

Premia’s innovative touch screen interface simplifies all tool setup and maintenance operations. Everything is menu-driven, with three standard programs for small, medium and large tools, plus two more that are completely customizable. These programs ensure consistency, no matter who operates the machine. If an operator prefers manual operation, there’s Premia’s manual mode. For maximum operator versatility, the interface allows a choice of language and measurement units. The software interface is easily updatable via a USB port or SD card.

Operation is effortless, starting with the universal fixture that accommodates all popular tooling styles including thick turret, Trumpf style, Murata Wiedemann, Multi Tool, thin turret, XMT and Salvagnini. Essentially all the operator needs to do is insert the tool in the universal fixture, select the appropriate program from the menu, press “Start” and Premia sharpens the tool without assistance. The software even provides an estimated time to completion. When done, Premia shuts off automatically.

For additional flexibility, Premia has a large 12.60 inch (320.04 mm) rotary table to sharpen the largest diameter tools. The table angle is also adjustable from 0° to 12° to allow shears (including rooftop and Trumpf-style whisper) to be ground on punches for optimal punching efficiency.

For longest service life, Premia includes a solid surface 7.8 inch (200 mm) CBN grinding wheel without the faster wearing perpendicular slots. Premia’s unique coolant flow system directs coolant automatically through the grinding wheel. A dual stage filtering process has magnetic swarf retention (MSR™), a proprietary Mate feature that simplifies maintenance, promotes longer maintenance intervals and extends coolant pump life.

Premia design features include:

• Powerful, best-in-class 3.3 kW motor for sharpening the largest tools

• Full data tracking of all tools sharpened, wheel, coolant life, motor life history and more

• Grind depth and removal rate settings provide maximum flexibility

• Large 10.5 gallon coolant tank is on wheels for easy tank cleaning and coolant change.

Additional features:

• Fully enclosed machine design with safety door interlock contains sharpening mist

• Hand sprayer for rinsing sharpened tools and cleaning fixture area

• Two built-in drawers for storing tools

• 12 month warranty

• CE and QPS certified.

Overall footprint: 76.5 inch (1943 mm) x 30 inch (762 mm) x 26 inch (660 mm). Weight: 660 lbs (300 Kg).

“Proper tool maintenance is really crucial to sheet metal fabricating operations. Tooling needs to be kept in optimal condition to produce high quality parts and extend tool life. With Mate’s new Premia Sharpening System, tool maintenance has never been easier,” reports John Galich, Mate Marketing Manager. “Premia’s touch screen interface, powerful motor and ability to accept all popular tooling styles, make maintenance operations virtually stress free. The software ensures consistent results no matter who operates the machine. Fabricators will welcome the addition of Premia in their facilities.”
