Tool Management Software includes AAIM add-on module.

Press Release Summary:

PGC tool data management software includes Advanced Analysis, Inspection and Measuring (AAIM) module, which enables building of tool profile while it rotates 360°. Auto DX function allows operator to run measuring and inspection cycle on any tool by importing tool's DXF drawing, and deviations can be displayed graphically or in report form. Utilizing DXF, operator may trace unknown shape or profile and automatically reverse engineer form.

Parlec Enhances PGC Tool Data Management Software with AAIM

Fairport, N.Y. - May 18, 2004 - The Advanced Analysis, Inspection and Measuring (AAIM) add-on module to Parlec's PGC tool data management software enhances the already impressive functions of the ParleVision video measuring and inspection system.

Special features of the AAIM system include:

'Merge' - Accommodates automatic building of a tool profile while it rotates 360 degrees, allowing the operator to dynamically measure and inspect the tool as if it were passing through an actual work-piece.

"This feature is indispensable when a 2-D static image cannot show the actual geometry of the tool, such as gauging features on ball nose end mills, shape tools, form tools and other helical tools," commented Chris Nuccitelli, presetter product manager at Parlec.

'Auto DX' - Allows operator to run a complete measuring and inspection cycle on any tool by simply importing the tool's DXF drawing with no programming or database required. When cycle is complete a qualification report may be automatically generated.

'Construction' - By generating a corresponding DXF engineering drawing, the operator may trace an unknown shape or profile and automatically reverse engineer the form.

'Contour' - This feature allows for comparison of the profile of the actual tool with its engineering drawing and the documentation of all deviations graphically on the screen and in report form.

'Analysis' - Offers real-time measuring and inspection of the tool edge by automatically displaying measurements, deviations and geometries on the screen as the operator moves the mouse over a feature in the tool's profile.

"Parlec is thrilled to now have this advanced technology to offer our customers," concluded Nuccitelli. "We'll be demonstrating the AAIM system at this year's International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), Sept. 8-15 at Chicago's McCormick Place."
