Tollgrade Announces Industry's First Embedded DOCSIS®-Based Fiber Node Transponder at Cable-Tec EXPO 2007
PITTSBURGH, June 20 -- Tollgrade Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:TLGD), a leading supplier of network service assurance products for the cable and telecom industries, today introduced the industry's first Embedded DOCSIS®-based Node Transponder platform. A demonstration will be held at Booth #356 at SCTE Cable-Tec EXPO 2007, being held this week in Orlando, Florida.
Tollgrade's Cheetah(TM) Embedded DOCSIS-based Node Transponders will enable cable operators to proactively monitor and control their fiber nodes using existing DOCSIS 1.x and 2.x infrastructures. This is an important cost benefit for cable operators as it eliminates the need for headend equipment required in proprietary systems.
The embedded node transponders are designed to be fully compliant with the standards adopted by the SCTE HMS subcommittee for monitoring and control of fiber nodes and provide easy access to information through standard SNMP MIBS. Other transponder features include an Ethernet port, embedded web server and optional IP/VoIP test suite.
"The embedded node transponder combines real-time control and monitoring of fiber nodes with the ability to emulate a PacketCable(TM) eMTA. This feature set enables cable operators to proactively detect and remotely isolate HFC, DOCSIS, High-speed Internet and VoIP troubles from a critical point in the HFC network -- where fiber and coax meet," stated Greg Quiggle, Tollgrade's Vice President of Marketing.
Tollgrade's Cheetah product line provides HFC, DOCSIS, and IP network fault/performance monitoring solutions that enable cable operators to significantly increase their plant operating efficiency. Cheetah systems are designed to meet all of the cable operator's monitoring demands and provide efficient end-to-end solutions that notify users of equipment failure instantly, warn of impending service interruptions and verify equipment status remotely.
Tollgrade's Cheetah(TM) Embedded DOCSIS-based Node Transponders are currently available for customer trials, and are expected to be available for volume shipments beginning in the second half of 2007.
