Horizontal Three-Roll Technology Creates Processing Versatility
(Pawcatuck, Conn.)-A horizontal three-roll stack from Davis-Standard offers a unique solution to processors of complex applications requiring low melt-strength materials such as polyester. This technology is ideal for a variety of narrow web applications, but is most commonly used in film coating configurations. One of the machine's primary advantages is that it allows for casting, laminating and sheet processes. This is possible due to the machine's capacity to integrate a variety of different payoffs and winders based on application. Examples of successful applications include unique packaging structures involving the combination of multi-layer polymers, multi-material wound structures and multi-layer drug delivery products. Davis-Standard has sold several of these roll stacks in recent months due to the machine's versatility and high dimensional control accuracy, making it ideal for next generation applications.
The roll stack is available in a range of sizes from 12 to 30 inches (300 to 760mm) wide. Each roll is independently servo driven with precise roll dimensions and roll gaps available. Davis-Standard can supply the machine independently or as part of a complete extrusion line. It is available with single and twin screw extruders, and in single and multi-layer configurations.
