Thread Sealants Prevent Leaks, Save Energy

DANVERS, MA - Permatex® brand thread sealants from Devcon secure pipe fittings in a multitude of applications. By preventing the loosening caused by vibration, tape shredding, solvent evaporation, and temperature cycling, they prevent troublesome leaks that waste valuable liquids and energy in compressed-air, hydraulic, and other piping systems.
Permatex® anaerobic thread sealants provide reliable locking of metal pipe fittings, sealing instantly for low-pressure testing, then curing to the burst strength of most piping systems. Resistant to moisture and corrosion, all formulations withstand temperatures from -65° to at least 300° F and contain a lubricant to prevent galling and simplify assembly/disassembly. They are available in a range of grades/strengths:
o High Performance Thread Sealant is formulated for tapered metal pipe thread fittings. It replaces tapes, resins, and pipe dopes and withstands 10,000 PSI.
o High Temperature Thread Sealant withstands temperatures from -65° to 400° F and resists chemicals such as hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel.
o Maximum Temperature Thread Sealant is a solvent-resistant compound formulated for tapered pipe threads and fittings made of aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized metal, and other inert metals. It also withstands temperatures from -65° to 400° F.
o Pneumatic/Hydraulic Sealant, formulated for locking and sealing high-pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems, will not contaminate system fluids or clog filters.
Devcon also offers a variety of Permatex® non-anaerobic thread sealants including: Pipe Joint Compound, a lubricating, low-viscosity (40,000 cps), non-curing, universal sealant; and Thread Sealant with PTFE (Teflon® - the lubricant found in most of the anaerobic sealants above), an economical, general-purpose, non-curing formulation that remains pliable at high and low temperatures yet outperforms tapes and dopes.
