Seiko Instruments Inc. Unveils Compact Subassembly Featuring an 'EZ-OP' Mechanism for Easy Maintenance
TORRANCE, Calif. - May 18, 2004 - Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division today introduced the APU-F247 subassembly to its family of thermal printers, featuring the company's innovative "EZ-OP" mechanism that offers fast and simple paper loading with the touch of a convenient lever.
"The APU-F247 is an all-in-one thermal printer and is ideal for a wide range of applications, including kiosk, vending, voting, medical and parking," said Bob Falco, director and division manager, Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division. "Supplied with a built-in interface board, the printer unit simply needs to be plugged in and connected to the device and it is ready to go."
The subassembly, measuring 99.3 x 92.5 x 173mm, weighs approximately 1kg and provides fast, high-resolution printing of 8 dots/mm, with a speed of up to 100mm/second. The subassembly can print a variety of barcodes * such as UPC-A, JAN13, Code 39, ITF and CODABAR * and the page mode enables free layout of printed materials. In addition, the printer unit supports three interfaces: serial (RS-232C), parallel and Universal Serial Bus (USB).
The printer unit is virtually maintenance-free, with a thermal head that can be cleaned by simply lifting the platen, and offers a service life of 100km of printing and/or 100 million pulses. Accommodating a paper width of 58mm and a maximum roll capacity of 3.25 inches, the APU-F247 provides a print width of 54mm. The unit features an autocutter, providing an operational life of 500,000 cuts.
The MSRP for the APU-F247 is $550.
