The Beer Store Increases Sales and Enhances Service with Oracle® Retail Store Inventory Management Application

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 /- The Beer Store, operating more than 440 stores throughout Ontario, has implemented the Oracle® Retail Store Inventory Management application to help increase sales and provide a quicker, more satisfying experience for customers, Oracle announced today. The Beer Store is using the Oracle Retail system to speed order fulfillment, streamline inventory management and free employees to spend more time with customers.

The Oracle Retail project is part of a multi-million dollar retail renewal program in which The Beer Store is introducing new store formats and equipping store personnel with the tools to deliver higher levels of customer service. With an average of 225 different brands available in each store, Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management reduces manual inventory procedures and equips store personnel with more accurate inventory information.

"Oracle is helping us transform the way we serve customers in our stores and improving their overall shopping experience," said Glenn Wood, CIO of the The Beer Store. "In this regard, the Oracle Retail system is central to our retail renewal program and empowers our store personnel by providing them improved access to accurate information."

Prior to implementing the Oracle Retail system, The Beer Store used a legacy system. The Beer Store wanted real-time access to inventory levels and information to help improve sales and efficiency in operations.

"Automating back room processes with Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management and wireless technology results in a more personal experience for our customers when they visit our stores," added Wood. "We believe this will translate directly into greater customer satisfaction."

The company selected the Oracle Retail application because it offered the out-of-the-box functionality the company required for faster implementation, simpler staff training and easier maintenance and upgrades. The Oracle system will scale to support The Beer Store's growth plans and enables the retailer to leverage existing solution investments, including integrating to a legacy corporate system.

The first phase of the Oracle rollout was successfully completed during The Beer Store's busiest season. The Beer Store has used the Oracle system to help ensure the reliability of inventory information, speed delivery of back- room inventory to the floor, improve customer fill rates and make it easier for employees to stay familiar with the diverse range of products in stores.

"We measure success by our ability to go-live with our solutions and start delivering measurable bottom line results to our customers," said Dan Stoks, Senior Vice President Global Sales and Consulting, Oracle Retail. "The Beer Store exemplifies the ideal of being able to go-live on a solution that leverages their existing technology and provides a foundation for future growth and value."
