The Balver Zinn Group Sponsors IPC Hand Soldering Competition at Productronica

The Balver Zinn Group today announced that it will sponsor the IPC hand soldering competition at Productronica, scheduled to take place November 12-15, 2013 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany. Balver Zinn will deliver the following products for this competition:

Balver Zinn's BRILLIANT B2012 solder wire is halide-free, rosin-based, and designed for manual and robotic soldering. B2012 is odorless and shows excellent soldering and wetting performance. The no-clean, halide-free solder wire was developed for lead-free rework and touch-up. B2012 is available in the alloys SN100C® and SAC305 (SN97C) with a standard flux content of 2.2 percent. Balver Zinn wires are available in diameters from 0.3 to 3.5 mm.

120-TEM Tempotac Tacky Flux can withstand higher temperatures and can be supplied in a blue color version for inspection purposes when required. It can be used in all types of rework and repair applications, including reballing, placement of BGAs and the removal of bridges in the rework of QFPs.

Cobar's easy-to-use Cobrush is a precise, inexpensive and handy tool for applying liquid flux to tiny chip components as well as individual solder joints. The Cobrush flux applicator puts flux only where it is needed in just the right amount and is ideal for applying liquid no-clean fluxes to any site that needs to be soldered. It is disposable and compatible with many different types of fluxes. It will be shown with 327-SEL, a high-reliability selective flux designed specifically for selective soldering processes to have absolutely no corrosion on cured or uncured residues.

Participants will compete against each other to build a functional electronics assembly within a 45-minute time limit. Assemblies will be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced and overall electrical functionality of the assembly. IPC-A-610 Master Instructors will serve as the judges. For registration information, visit www.ipc.org/hsc-productronica. If you do not want to compete, but want to show your support for the competitors as they more from soldering iron to soldering iron, stop by Booth 415 in Hall A3.

Balver Zinn and Cobar offer solder bar, solder wire, solder flux, gel flux, cleaner and solder paste. For more information about the company's complete range of solder materials, visit www.balverzinn.com or www.cobar.com.
