Test System facilitates design of wireless access terminals.

Press Release Summary:

Model E1966A test application provides bench-top tool for designing dual-mode 1xEV-DO/cdma2000 access terminals (ATs). Combined with Series 8960 wireless test platform, system supports all 3GPP-defined 1xEV-DO modulation modes (QPSK, 8 PSK and 16 QAM), and provides all available rates from 38.4 to 2457.6 Kbps. E6564A wireless test manager software offers menu-driven test plans and test exec functionality for all 1xEV-DO AT data rates.

Original Press Release:

Agilent Technologies Expands 1xEV-DO Test Portfolio with Industry-First One-Box Solution for Wireless Access Terminals

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 1, 2002 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the industry's first one-box 1xEV-DO testing solution for manufacturers designing and producing leading-edge, dual-mode 1xEV-DO/cdma2000 access terminals (ATs). The new Agilent E1966A 1xEV-DO test solution provides an inexpensive bench-top tool for designing ATs and helps high-volume manufacturers speed production and reduce the risk of returns and recalls.

The E1966A 1xEV-DO test application for ATs combined with the industry-standard Agilent 8960 series wireless test platform supports all 3GPP-defined 1xEV-DO modulation modes (QPSK, 8 PSK and 16 QAM), and provides all available rates from 38.4 Kbps to 2457.6 Kbps. The E1966A improves test times significantly by testing 1xEV-DO ATs at the packet level instead of at the frame level used in cdma2000 receiver testing. At the highest data rates, 1xEV-DO has up to 16 packets per frame, making packet-error-rate (PER) measurements 12 times faster than typical frame-error-rate (FER) measurements. For manufacturers who choose to test dual-mode ATs for both 1xEV-DO and cdma2000, Agilent also provides the previously introduced E1962B cdma2000 test application.

The 1xEV-DO test application also incorporates a new spectrum monitor feature with three independent markers that allow quick and easy visual inspection of relative measurements, which are especially useful for production repair benches, quality assurance testing, and general-purpose R&D tasks. The spectrum monitor feature provides up to 100 Mhz frequency span, 50 to +37 dBm reference range, and 0.1 dB resolution.

Agilent has also developed the E6564A 1xEV-DO wireless test manager software for AT designers, manufacturers and service providers. This new addition to Agilent's family of wireless test manager software enhances the 1xEV-DO solution with easy-to-use menu-driven test plans and test exec functionality for all 1xEV-DO AT data rates.

These new products extend Agilent's comprehensive wireless portfolio for supporting 1xEV technology and delivering global design and manufacturing test solutions.
