Digital Lightwave Introduces Network Impairment Observer (NIO) Test Management Software; Monitor, Control and Manage Multiple Test Devices in Real Time

October 21, 2009-Digital Lightwave®, Inc. (OTC BB: DIGL.OB), a leading provider of optical networking test equipment and technology, today announced the Network Impairment Observer (NIO) software. The NIO application, the key element in a Managed Test System, allows users to monitor, control and manage up to 30 Digital Lightwave, Inc. NIC products (NIC 2.5G, NIC 10G, NIC NXG, NIC GigE, NIC Plus, NIC EP).

Using NIO, a single user can monitor the status of multiple NICs simultaneously, view detailed reports of alarms and errors, and can set up thresholds for automatic alerts. NIO provides a snapshot of network health in real time, allows the user to correlate alarm and error indications and enables faster troubleshooting, reduces downtime and reduces the cost of network maintenance.

"NIO fills a need that our customers have requested for a long time," said Mike Botham, Director of Engineering at Digital Lightwave. "Our NIC products are broadly deployed in networks around the world. Adding the capability of correlate alarms and errors in multiple locations can greatly improve the speed and accuracy of troubleshooting, resulting in significant time and money saved."

Alarms can be filtered by user-assigned severity levels - minor, major and critical. Errors can be filtered by user-assigned error-rate thresholds. The user interface includes advance sorting and filtering so that the user can display exactly the information desired. At the click of a button, a Remote GUI can be launched for any NIC that is connected, enabling full control of any NIC product remotely.
See the NIO software, along with the complete line of Digital Lightwave network test equipment and technology, at Supercomm 2009 in Chicago, Oct. 21-23.
