EXFO Launches Industry's First Full-Featured 1G to 10G IP Services Test Head Solution for Carrier Ethernet and Mobile Backhaul Testing Applications

High-performance Ethernet/IP test tool tailored for central office applications delivers simplified single-point service validation and seamlessly integrates into existing test environments

QUEBEC CITY, May 7 /-- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ:EXFO)(NASDAQ:TSX:)(NASDAQ:EXF) announced today the launch of the RTU-310 (1 Gbit/s) and RTU-310G (10 Gbit/s) IP Service Test Heads to address the growing demand for centralized IP/Ethernet testing solutions in mobile switch centers (MSC). The RTU-310x series seamlessly interoperates with EXFO's entire portfolio of portable Ethernet field testers and the BrixNGN network monitoring solution for cost-efficient and comprehensive end-to-end testing, turn-up and troubleshooting of Ethernet services.

Ethernet is rapidly becoming the predominant method for deploying new commercial services and for the expansion of backhaul capacity. Carriers are increasingly demanding central office-based testing solutions that combine with field portable test equipment to provide end-to-end granular visibility of Ethernet performance in order to guarantee and reinforce service-level agreements and improve problem resolution.

The RTU-310x test heads leverage the extensive, field-proven performance assurance testing capabilities of the portable FTB-8510B and FTB-8510G Packet Blazer Ethernet field testers. The RTU-310x series is a carrier-class, rackmount solution that facilitates the integration of end-to-end, bidirectional Ethernet testing, including RFC 2544, and advanced wire-speed traffic analysis into the demanding central office environment, enabling carriers to increase technician autonomy and productivity with solo control of remote and local test devices for streamlined, efficient end-to-end testing.

Extending network visibility even further, the RTU-310x series can optionally be integrated into the BrixNGN Carrier Ethernet network monitoring solutions, allowing service providers to continuously collect, correlate, analyze and visualize strategic QoS and QoE data from the network core to the customer endpoint at full line rate testing speeds. This critical data enables accurate capacity planning and service turn-up verification, as well as the rapid identification, diagnosis and resolution of network and service issues before customers are affected-thereby guaranteeing performance and quality.

"The launch of the RTU-310x test head series demonstrates EXFO's continued innovation in Ethernet test solutions, reinforcing our commitment to offering our customers expanded test capabilities aligned with shifts in deployment trends", said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing. "The seamless integration of the RTU series with our extensive Ethernet field testing portfolio and our BrixNGN network monitoring suite protects our customers' investments in testing equipment while providing an easy upgrade path to advanced testing scenarios in-line with their expansion strategies."
