Original Press Release:

A New CCTV Picture Quality Tester

FM SYSTEMS. INC. in Santa Ana. California announces the development of the first ever test instrument to definitively measure the visual sharpness of a CCTV video picture image.

The VLTG-800 VIDEO LINE TEST GENERATOR produces a video test sianal with an upper line resolution of 800 Lines that can be viewed on a CCTV monitor. When the VLTG-800 is connected into a CCTV video system the delivered line resolution can be measured visually on the monitor. The VLTG-800 can be used with coaxial cable, twisted pair wire, fiber-optic, and wireless video transmission systems.

Any video device in the transmission path can be measured for its
ability to transmit the line resolution. Video Tape Recorders can be measured by recording the signal, playing the signal back and observing the difference in line resolution.

Active twisted pair receivers and fiber optic receivers can be set to optimum video line delivery by viewing the monitor and adjusting the receivers.

When the VLTG-800 is used with the CM-1 Camera Master and cable
equalizer/amplifiers, the transmission facilities can be made
completely transparent to the video signal so that there is no
impairment of picture detail due to the length of the coaxial cable or twisted pair wires.

For more information on how to use this new test instrument, please contact Frank McClatchie at FM SYSTEMS, INC. at 800-235-6960. With this new quality testing system, it is easy to uparade new, and even existing CCTV systems to deliver the full line capability of any video camera.
