Terracon and New England Sales Team up on New Custom Mixing Tank Solution for Manufacturer of Liquid Coatings
New solution expands production capacity by 50 times for new liquid coating product
Boston, MA - Terracon (http://www.terracon-solutions.com/), a provider of non-metallic tanks and fluid containment solutions, and New England Sales (http://www.newenglandsalesinc.com), a resale distributor and manufacturer's representative, recently completed a collaborative product development effort for a manufacturer of liquid coatings. Experts from the two companies completed the design and production of a customized mixing tank for a new semi-viscous liquid coating product. The turnkey solution will help the client meet its increased production and revenue goals and expand production capacity by 50 times.
The new mixing system combines a 250-gallon linear polyethylene tank, two air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps, a ten micron outlet filter and a custom-designed, air-driven mixer with specially-coated shaft and impellers. It also had a powder-coated tubular steel framework on heavy-duty locking casters. The new system mixes, blends, filters and dispenses the liquid coating product in larger quantities while reducing installation and maintenance requirements. Previously, the company manually mixed five gallon batches of the coating. To meet production and revenue goals, they needed a complete system in a single package that met several requirements including:
o Air-Driven - all powered equipment had to be air driven
o No-Touch - No metal could touch the liquid coating product because of its highly corrosive nature
o Mobile - the tank had to be mobile within the manufacturer's plant - so the sub-frame and casters needed to support over 2,500 pounds
In addition to these features, the solution also reduced operational requirements. The liquid coating manufacturer only had to bring in a compressed airline and inlet/discharge tubing to make the mixing tank fully operational.
