HiD2000 for HART Field Devices in Hazardous Locations

Direct cable connections make well-suited as solution for large projects

TWINSBURG, OH - Pepperl+Fuchs Elcon HiD2000 is an ideal solution for applications where field devices with HART are located in a hazardous area and need to pass through intrinsic safety isolators. HiD2000 can be applied in any hazardous area where the termination containing intrinsic safety interface modules must also incorporate the HART multiplexer and a direct connection to a DCS or PLC system using the standard vendor I/O cables.

The high density design and custom configuration capability allows for direct cable connection to many DCS systems, making the HiD2000 an ideal solution for large projects. A patented cross-wiring feature reduces interconnecting wiring needs by up to 35% to save time, space and money, and for simple and easily documented signal marshaling. The system offers simpler commissioning than comparable systems because field wiring can be connected directly to the terminal on the mounting board, and loop-disconnect terminals incorporate test points for quick troubleshooting. Faults in the field can be detected by the modules and flagged by the Fault Monitor Module to alert operators and equipment to problems, and guide engineers to their cause.

These high-density, fixed terminal modules feature Quick-Lok tabs to eliminate module wiring needs, as well as LED status and power-on indicators for fault detection indication and operation monitoring. With module keying functionality, users can configure each module position uniquely, to eliminate potential mistakes during maintenance or commissioning.

For safety system applications, standard off-the-shelf HiD2000 products are now SIL2 approved to ensure conformity to international safety standards for systems and processes, at no additional cost to the user. These ratings help reduce safety risks and provide a number of additional benefits including uniform documentation, global certifications, extensive international supply, and fewer parts to stock, as well as proven engineering and global support.
