WIELAND INTRODUCES SCREW CLAMP/IDC HYBRID TERMINAL BLOCK
BURGAW, N.C. (May 8, 2002) - Adding to the most comprehensive insulation displacement contact (IDC) terminal block line in the industry, Wieland Electric Inc. introduced a screw clamp/IDC hybrid connector. The feedthrough terminal blocks offer IDC terminations on one side for rapid pre-wiring and a screw clamp termination on the other side for proven field connections.
"Wieland's taris hybrid block really is the best of both worlds," said taris Product Manager, Marc Immordino. "It allows quick installation of the blocks in panels and other pre-manufactured systems, while still offering the familiarity and reliability of screw clamp terminations for field technicians."
By piercing the wire insulation with a single motion, IDC technology enables instant contact between the clamping body and solid or stranded wire. This process does not require wire stripping or special tools and therefore significantly decreases installation time. Wieland's taris hybrid terminal blocks exceed the UL wire pull-out standards to ensure superior wire retention in industrial applications. Product availability is scheduled for summer 2002.
The taris hybrid terminal block series is available in 1mm and 2.5mm single feedthrough and ground versions. UL and CSA approvals are currently pending.
