Products Include HDMI transmitter/receiver and the first True 5.1 Surround Sound Wireless
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 -- Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX). According to Tom Malone, Sr. VP Sales, "Ultra Wideband is one of the key technologies that will make truly wireless entertainment networks a reality for consumers, helping them cut the cable and place their new flat panels where ever they want without the inherent wiring hassles ... and Ultra Wideband is leading the way with our latest TERK branded accessories."
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the electronic industries accepted standard for carrying the highest quality digital video and audio signal and two of the Company's newest offerings feature HDMI specs.
The TERK Ultra Wide-Band Wireless HDMI transmitter-receiver eliminates the cable connection between the high definition content source (cable box, DVD, game system, etc.) and the video display (TV, Projector, etc.). The HDMI-UWB features non-line-of-sight operation that enables devices to communicate wirelessly through walls and extend across multiple rooms. It also features transmission quality equal to that of wired solutions. The input from video devices can be HDMI, component video, composite video, and analog audio.
The output to the HDTV is industry-standard HDMI v1.2a. Full HDCP (High- bandwidth Digital Content Protection) compliance is supported, allowing protected content to be displayed to an authenticated display. The product is based upon standards from the WiMedia Alliance and is guaranteed to coexist with other WiMedia compliant products.
In addition to the new HDMI offerings, TERK is expanding its wireless accessory line with three additional new products that answer the demands of today's wireless world.
The TERK WF-REM1 WiFi Remote Control turns your TV remote into an information center. Connect it to your home wireless Internet network, and it will download a feature- rich program guide each day, tailored to your own content providers. Get more information in a format easier to use than most guides available from cable and satellite companies. It will even download and make available multiple guides, including local cable, satellite and broadcast, depending upon what services you have. "You don't even need to have the television on to use the guide," said Malone. "As an Internet access tool, you can also receive RSS news feeds, sports scores, and the local weather." The LF-REM1 is easy to program with a simple "by brand" built-in navigation tool. Microsoft Windows-based software makes it easy to use. It will control more than 24 devices with macro ability and has a learning feature. Its vibrant 2.2-inch color QVGA screen delivers a clear, easy-to- read image. MSRP: $299.99.
The TERK LF-51 True Surround Wireless Headphone is the first and only wireless headphone that delivers real 5.1 sound ... that's five speakers and a subwoofer in any home system. Each ear hears sound from 3 speakers and the subwoofer. "In order to hear true 5.1 in a headphone and not processed sound, you need to have 4 speaker chambers and magnets in each ear piece," says Malone "and that is exactly what we have done."
The Company believes the technology employed in their 5.1 system is far superior to that of competitive models that claim 5.1 listening experience but only simulate that sound because they use only 2 magnets.
The TERK LF-51 is the first headphone to give the user true, theater-like surround sound -and they are wireless, allowing for maximum flexibility. "You can feel the sound moving left to right and front to back," says Malone "and the sound you hear is true 5.1 surround sound with no noticeable distortion on voice or instruments. You will hear your music and experience your movies the way you would in your home theater setting but on a much more personalized level. The sound is in your head. There is no other way to describe it, you have to hear it and experience it to believe it."
The TERK LF-DAS Wireless Digital Audio Sender allows the user to listen to his/her favorite music from a DVD, MP3, iPod, CD, PC or notebook on any music source in the home with audio inputs, wirelessly. With the literal explosion of digital music downloading from pre-recorded content and the broad demographic spectrum doing it, ranging from pre-teens to adults to seniors, who then listen to their music on a broad variety of playback equipment, this product has endless possibilities. The LF-DAS delivers the clearest sound quality possible via eight individually selectable audio channels. This is the ideal product for users looking to fully realize the potential of their digital music. In addition, add an optional USB interface and deliver the content from thousands of free Internet radio stations to your home equipment wirelessly. LF-DAS MSRP: $99.99.
"Wireless technology will add convenience to more and more entertainment products as we seek to get the maximum out of our entertainment experience. Our high-end TERK-branded products will literally free the consumer from the constraints, problems and hassles of the wired world. These new products deliver high-quality performance and we believe, will also deliver profitable sales in new categories for our dealer-partners," Malone concluded.
