Nexen Introduces Advanced Tension Control Brake

(Vadnais Heights, Minn. - October 9, 2003) Nexen Group, Inc., today announced their new web control product, the BTBA Tension Control Brake. This advanced tension control brake provides high thermal capacity in a small package.

Nexen's BTBA Tension Control Brake features a three-part system to ensure maximum heat capacity. An integral fan works with the finned rotor to cool the brake, while Nexen's open designed
guard allows heat to dissipate away from the machine quickly. Cross drilled holes in the rotor further increase air flow, adding a critical element to the BTBAs optimal heat dissipation.

This tension brake was designed with ease of assembly and maintenance in mind. The BTBA retro-fits shaft mounted brakes with a straight bore requiring no flange. Utilizing multiple actuators to achieve different torque ranges across a wide range of applications makes the BTBA versatile while delivering precise tension control. The quick change feature, using a spring-loaded locking pin on the facing shoe, makes replacing facings easy, reducing downtime and maintenance cost.

Nexen's BTBA delivers consistent tension in web control applications for paper and plastic film converting, corrugating, labeling and printing industries.

Nexen is a leading manufacturer of brakes, clutches, servo motor and linear motion brakes, torque limiters, overload protection devices, and web tension control systems for a variety of industrial applications ranging from motion control and robotics to packaging and material handling.
