Temperature Switches have low quiescent current of 15 uA.

Press Release Summary:

S-8130 switches invert output signal when temperature limit is reached and latch until reset signal is input or they detect that power voltage has been lowered. Units consist of temperature sensor with temperature coefficient of -13 mV/°C, comparator, voltage detection circuit and noise suppression circuit all enclosed in 8-pin MSOP package. S-8130AA and S-8130AC feature low voltage operation of 2.2V min, and operation temperature range of -40 to 100°C.

Seiko Instruments Debuts Temperature Switch With Latch

Ideal for game consoles, notebook and desktop PCs.

Torrance, CA, January 30, 2002....Seiko Instruments introduces the S-8130 Series temperature switch with latch. The S-8130 inverts the output signal when the temperature limit is reached and latches until a reset signal is input or it detects that the power voltage has been lowered. This temperature switch was designed for use in game consoles, notebook computers and desktop PCs.

Thanks to CMOS technology, the S-8130 Series, S-8130AA and S-8130AC, features a low quiescent current of 15 uA, low voltage operation of 2.2 V minimum, and wide operation temperature of -40° to 100° C. The S-8130 consists of a temperature sensor with a temperature coefficient of -13 mV/°C, a comparator, voltage detection circuit and noise suppression circuit all of which are enclosed in a small 8-pin MSOP package. The detection temperature of the S-8130AA is fixed in 5°C increments from +60° C to +95°C, whereas the S-8130AC has a variable detection temperature, set by an external reference voltage in the circuit.

The S-8130 Series is available now and is priced at $0.70 each in quantities of 10,000 through a national network of authorized distributors, including All American and Mouser. Samples are available for some versions in the series.
