Telepo Collaborates with Sun Microsystems on Mobile Unified Communications

STOCKHOLM, February 12 -- Telepo has today announced that it is collaborating with Sun Microsystems to address the increasing need for mobile unified communication solutions among large enterprises and operators. Telepo's award-winning communication software will run on Sun hardware and application server - with focus on two open-source projects - GlassFish(TM) and Sailfin.

The collaboration between the two companies include broad technology cooperation, software development and testing together with Sun's solution architects of Project Sailfin, the open source-based communication software.

"Telepo is an innovative and award-winning application vendor for mobile business communication, which has a strong fit with Sun initiatives around Project Sailfin, for the next generation enterprise requirements," said Paul Hinz, Director of Application Platform, Sun Microsystems.

"Sun has an undisputed leadership in the operator segment world-wide with its infrastructure and application server technology," said Lars-Michael Paqvalen, CEO of Telepo. "We will now be able to further increase the scalability and performance of the Telepo Business Communication Solution in order to address large enterprises and operators."

Telepo will showcase its solutions together with Sun at the GSM Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (booth 2C12) and further on at JavaOne, May 6-9 in San Francisco, United States.

Telepo's software solutions will run on Sun's hardware and Sun Java(TM) Communications Application Server (SJSCAS). SJSCAS is a leading open source (Project Sailfin) service convergence platform. With telco-grade capabilities such as scalability and multi-platform support, this SIP application server forms the core of a Service Delivery Platform and facilitates deployment of multimedia communications services.

SJSCAS is powered by GlassFish, the leading open source Java EE application server that boasts world class performance. For Telepo this relationship enables clustering support for large scale telecom graded systems with high availability and scalability. Telepo will not have to maintain the SIP server itself, which leads to faster time to market of new services and applications.
