Oakland Instrument Introduces Line of Elmendorf Tear Testers

Minneapolis, Minn. - Oakland Instrument Corp. has introduced a new product line: the ME Series Tear Testers, featuring four models of Elmendorf advanced mechanical tear testers for measuring tear resistance of film, paper, sheet, laminated materials and converted products.

Available in 800-, 1,600-, 3,200- and 6,400-gram capacities, the ME Series was developed to address a specific need in the marketplace for a high-quality, manual, non-instrumented tester that is both cost-effective and simple to use.

The tear testers offer maximum flexibility in the test lab and on the plant floor, equipped with multiple pendulum capacities, integral cutting knife options, sample grip configurations, calibration accessories for in-house calibration checks and sample data sheets for computerized tabulation of tear resistance data that conforms to ASTM reporting requirements.

The ME Series meets applicable International Standards for Propagation Tear Resistance Testing of plastic film and sheeting as outlined in ASTM Specification D-1922 and TAPPI Standard T-414.

In addition to the tear testers, Oakland Instrument offers three complementary product lines: benchtop thickness micrometers, laboratory sample cutters and cutting templates. Together they form a complete system for testing tear properties of plastic film, sheet and paper.
