Basic Tape Library Support (BTLS) v1.8 supports z/OS® v1.5 and planned z/OS releases, eliminating need to upgrade BTLS release with future z/OS DFSMS releases. It minimizes code defects by incorporating roll-up of outstanding maintenance from BTLS v1.7 and provides automation support for IBM 3494/3495 Tape Library Dataserver in non-system-managed tape environment. Product enables tape automation while preparing for SMS Systems Managed Tape.

IBM Basic Tape Library Support V1.8 for z/OS DFSMS V1.5 and Future DFSMS Releases


Overview

Basic Tape Library Support (BTLS) V1.8 is designed to:

· Support z/OS® V1.5 and currently planned z/OS releases, so you will not have to upgrade your BTLS release every time you upgrade to currently planned z/OS DFSMS releases

· Include a roll-up of outstanding maintenance from BTLS V1.7

· Provide automation support for the IBM 3494/3495 Tape Library Dataserver in a non-system-managed tape environment

· Enable tape automation while preparing for SMS Systems Managed Tape

Key prerequisites

· IBM z/OS DFSMS V1.5 and its prerequisites

· Enhance data availability in the event of a permanent I/O error with dynamic device reconfiguration (DDR) swaps
