Tablus Content Sentinel Deployed at Microsoft

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 12 - Tablus Inc., a leading provider of content loss prevention solutions, today announced that Microsoft Corp. has deployed Content Sentinel to accurately identify and locate its most sensitive information throughout the organization. Deployment of Content Sentinel allows the company to quickly gain visibility into the location of sensitive content dispersed across laptops, desktops, file shares and share points.

"All businesses today both large and small realize the impact of a content breach. We underwent a rigorous evaluation of Content Sentinel prior to deployment. Our selection of the Tablus solution is all about proactively protecting against a breach by better understanding the location of high impact business information and protecting against the proliferation of that content - something of paramount importance for us," said Olav Opedal, security program manager at Microsoft.

With approximately 30,000 file shares containing nearly 12 terabytes of data and more than 120,000 share points needing to be scanned and analyzed, the accuracy of the Content Sentinel solution in determining information at risk is of primary importance. Microsoft needed to ensure that the content loss prevention solution that they selected produces the most accurate results possible, virtually eliminating any false positives.

Content Sentinel uses a patent-pending Temporary Agent technology which deploys itself onto the computer being scanned, executes the scan, sends the results to the controller over an encrypted channel and then disappears - with little to no maintenance required. The Temporary Agent can be optimized to run during peak hours, or after hours, depending on the organization's requirements. This unobtrusive, highly scalable approach allows networks with thousands of shares and terabytes of content to be scanned in hours as opposed to months.

In addition, as a software-based solution with a light footprint, Content Sentinel is fast and easy to install on existing Windows servers. High precision rates and easy-to-use reporting and remediation tools minimize the overhead associated with reviewing and remediating sensitive content at risk.

"The selection of Tablus Content Sentinel by Microsoft clearly illustrates that we have succeeded in delivering both the precision and the scalability required by the world's largest organizations and most powerful brands," said Ann Bonaparte, president and CEO of Tablus. "Our success has been fueled by the growing awareness of companies such as Microsoft on the need to locate, monitor and protect sensitive information from loss or misuse. Content protection solutions are a critical component of a complete security posture and are vital in avoiding the potential damage to consumer confidence, brand equity and shareholder value that could come with a content breach."
