Symlabs Federated Identity Suite Demonstrates XACML Interoperability

SAN FRANCISCO, June 25 / / - Symlabs, a global leader in federated identity, virtual directory, and LDAP solutions, will be participating in the OASIS XACML Interoperability Workshop that is being hosted by the Burton Group at the Catalyst Conference which runs from June 25th through 29th in San Francisco. XACML support is a new feature that has been added to the extensive set of capabilities already included in Symlabs Federated Identity Suite.

Interoperability is critical for the development of open, standards-compliant, privacy-respecting identity management solutions, and the OASIS XACML Interoperability Workshop allows eight leading edge companies in the industry to come together and demonstrate through a use-case approach that they are ready to deliver. As one of those companies, Symlabs will participate in both of the use cases being featured. In the authorization use case, Symlabs will demonstrate interoperability of XACML SAML profiles for both Policy Enforcement Point (SR/RP) and Policy Decision Point (SAML Authority/IdP) roles, plus WS-XACML in Web Services Client and Web Services Provider roles. Scenarios for this use case feature customer access from a web browser, obtaining a manager's approval, and completing a stock purchase transaction. In the policy exchange use case, Symlabs will demonstrate the use of XACML to import and export policy descriptions between different participants.

"We are pleased to announce through our participation that we have fully implemented the relevant XACML specifications and profiles in Symlabs Federated Identity Suite," said Sampo Kellomaki, Identity Architect at Symlabs. "While both XACML and LDAP have their place, we see XACML being preferred for loosely coupled systems, while LDAP is best to deliver high performance for intranet or tightly coupled systems. Our products maximize the technical capabilities of either one to deliver the scalability needed for large implementations."

Symlabs software solutions address a wide variety of identity management needs across a broad range of implementations, and include support for LDAP, Liberty, plus many vendor-specific standards.
