Sybase iAnywhere Unveils New Secure Relay Architecture at TechWave 2006

LAS VEGAS, TechWave 2006, Aug. 7 - Sybase iAnywhere today announced new secure relay architecture to be implemented across several iAnywhere® products including Afaria®, OneBridge® and SQL Anywhere®, as well as the company's recently announced Information Anywhere Suite. The new architecture gives enterprises the ability to easily test, evaluate and deploy software products in a secure environment, whether behind their enterprise firewall or as part of a hosted solution.

"In today's world, it's time-consuming for IT administrators to go through the steps of setting up secure testing scenarios for software evaluation," said Joe Owen, vice president engineering, Sybase iAnywhere. "Deploying the software can take even longer. The new architecture serves as a secure mobile gateway for enterprises to easily and quickly test and deploy any iAnywhere products without needing to compromise their firewalls, cache information on unknown servers or jeopardize the security of company data."

Attendees of Sybase TechWave 2006 will be able to test-drive the new architecture in OneBridge Live, an upcoming feature of the next-generation of OneBridge, which enables secure, cost-effective delivery of e-mail, PIM (calendar, contacts, tasks), and other enterprise data to mobile workers anytime, anywhere. The OneBridge Live hosted evaluation feature gives IT administrators the ability to easily and securely evaluate OneBridge for use within the enterprise.

As part of a special promotion with Palm, Inc., 100 TechWave attendees will be able to take the OneBridge software for a test drive, enabling them to access their corporate e-mail and PIM from a Palm® Treo(TM) 700w smartphone during the conference. As an added benefit, the "TechWave-To-Go" AvantGo Channel will enable mobile attendees to keep track of conference course schedules, events, keynotes and more.

"The Sybase iAnywhere solution delivers on the mobile enterprise requirements of easy-to-use applications with trusted security, which in turn helps drive the adoption of our smartphones," said Joe Fabris, director of wireless solutions, Palm, Inc. "Palm is strongly positioned to be the smartphone brand name of choice for enterprise markets. We look forward to working with Sybase iAnywhere to further realize the benefits of the Treo platform's open email approach, business-ready applications, flexibility, power and convenience."

Sybase iAnywhere products based on the new secure relay architecture have a number of benefits:
o Enterprises no longer need to open inbound server ports or firewalls to enable pushing enterprise data to mobile devices.
o IT administrators do not need to install or configure any components in DMZ (demilitarized zone) while using iAnywhere products in conjunction with the hosted Relay Server.
o Companies can seamlessly connect any wireless mobile devices to their enterprise data securely without staging data outside the firewall.
o OneBridge Live is a component of OneBridge 5.5 to be announced later this quarter.
