SAN MAP COS, CA-November 5, 2002 -Taiyo Yuden (U.S.A.). Inc. introduces its new Model PFC700-S, the latest addition to its
PFC(TM) Series of modular, power factor-corrected switch-mode power supplies. The PFC700-S is a compact 700W switcher that
provides a single isolated (floating) output of 600-700W continuous output power (120% surges less than or equal to 20 seconds). The PFC700-S corrects the input current waveform to better than 0.99 power factor at the supply's full rated load of 120VAC. The user may select any of several factory-set output voltages, including 2, 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, 36 and 48V. All models feature current sharing as a standard feature, with "hot swap" capability an available option.
The PFC-700S can accommodate the full spectrum of OEM power supply needs and allow quick prototype delivery or customer
modifications to the standard unit. To ensure 100% out of the box operation, the PFC700-S is HALT tested (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) to verify design parameters. The PFC700-S is compliant with a number of US, Canadian and European certifications, including IEC1000-3-2 harmonic distortion requirements, EN61000-4 surge withstand, CISPR 11/ 22 and FCC Docket 20780 for EMI requirements, and is CE's Compliance to Low Voltage Directive. Physically, the open-frame unit measures just 9.0" (L) x 5.0" (W) x 2.5" (H).
Manufactured in the company's IS09001-certified facilities in North America, the PFC700-S is ideal for telecom, process control and other applications, many of which require only a single output voltage. Aside from a lower cost per Watt versus multiple output switchers, this also allows the unit's full current rating to be applied to a single output voltage instead of being divided among multiple outputs and thus derated.
