Switching Hub facilitates well-documented installations.

Press Release Summary:

Building Automation Systems Switch provides five 10/100 Mbps shielded RJ-45 ports. Each supports auto-negotiation protocol to select data rate, duplex, and flow control. All 5 ports are auto-MDI/X compliant, meaning that any port can function as uplink port to another switch, omitting all crossover cables in the field. Customers can use unregulated DC power source from 10-36 V or AC power source of 8-24 V, 47-63 Hz. Quick-disconnect power connector is provided.

Contemporary Controls Has Introduced the Compact BAS Switch

Downers Grove, Illinois - To address the growth of Ethernet in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Contemporary Controls has introduced the compact BAS Switch.

This device addresses the key concerns for Building Automation Systems: convenient installation in control panels and low maintenance.

Joe Stasiek, Sales Manager for Contemporary Controls, says the advantage of the BAS Switch is ease-of-use for the installer. "Installers don't have to worry about using receptacles or extension cords or mounting the unit with Velcro or duct tape," says Stasiek. "It is mounted with four easy fasteners, and can be powered from the same control transformer that powers other building automation equipment."

This switching hub is also valuable for the building owner because it facilitates well-documented installations. The label on the switch can be written upon so that port connections are documented per location of connected equipment.

The unit provides five 10/100 Mbps shielded RJ-45 ports.
Each port supports the auto-negotiation protocol in order to select data rate, duplex and flow control. All five ports are auto-MDI/X compliant, meaning that any port can function as an uplink port to another switch, omitting all crossover cables in the field.

These features combine to create a truly plug-and-play device because no operator intervention is necessary, even in remote locations.

Another convenience is its capacity for dual power sources; Customers can use an unregulated DC power source (10-36 V) or from an AC power source (8-24 V, 47-63 Hz). A quick-disconnect power connector is provided. And when power is interrupted, the unit automatically returns to normal without user intervention.

The device has a broad operating temperature range, and it complies with worldwide industrial electromagnetic compatibility standards. The BAS Switch is UL 508 Listed for Industrial Control Equipment.

Price of each unit is $150 and can be ordered under the EIBA5-100T model number. Availability is scheduled for mid-Janaury.
