Original Press Release:

ITW Switches to Market Comprehensive New Line of Jumper Switches, Rotary Coded Switches and Color-Coded Dip Switches

Harwood Heights, Ill. - ITW Switches, an Illinois Tool Works Company, has announced that it is introducing a comprehensive new line of "Erg Components" featuring unique Jumper Switches, color-coded DIP switches, low-profile color-coded DIP switches, card edge color-coded DIP switches, and rotary coded DIP switches.

All components in the Erg line are fully-sealed and feature gold contacts, a lifetime warranty, and are 100% tested by the Erg Division of ITW in its ISO 9002 approved plant in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, U.K.

The line's unique, new Erg Jumper-Switch(TM) combines jumpers with a header in a single, integrated component that conserves valuable printed circuit board space. This component is a fast drop-in replacement for conventional shunts commonly used in many computer and telecom products requiring codes or settings to be selected by means of a PCB header and a series of individual jumpers.

Available in a wide variety electrcal configurations of up to 16 poles, the new Jumper-Switch is a single, integrated unit with no loose pieces to keep track of. All wiping contacts are hard gold plated.

Additional exceptionally cost-effective products in the Erg line are the fully-sealed, rotary coded switches perfect for flow soldering and solvent cleaning processes. These unique devices feature gold-plated wiping contacts for reliable, low level switching. Three configurations -- a low profile design for screwdriver operation, knurled knob, and a larger size with easy-to-operate, color-coded knobs -- are available. All have bold, white easy-to-read numerals.

The Erg line also includes a variety of other DIP switches for wide-ranging applications on crowded circuit boards: For in-line program end-stacking applications, Spectra C and SpectraDIL switches are ideal. SDLS switches are end-stackable with flush actuators. SpectraEDGE switches are well suited to "through panel" mounting, and DILswitch(TM) components facilitate test/code and range setting applications.
