Taiyo Yuden's New 600W Switch-Mode Power Supply Optimizes High-Efficiency/Density Operation in a Low-Cost 1U-High Package
Model AAD600S offers a host of standard features, connector configurations and other options
SAN MARCOS, CA--September 1, 2005--TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.), INC. announces the AAD600S, the latest addition to the company's popular AAD Series of 1U-high switch-mode power supplies. The AAD600S provides a single, isolated (floating) output of up to 600W continuous power, correcting the input current waveform to better than 99% power factor at the supply's full rated load. The user may select any of several factory-set output voltages/currents, including 12V/42A, 15V/36A, 24V/22A, 28V/20A, 36V/16 A and 48V/12.5A. Providing operating efficiencies of up to 92%, standard features include remote sense, remote On/Off, DCOK, single wire current share and power fail signal. Several different connector choices are available for "hot swap" capability. Other standard options include OR-ing diodes, droop current share, 5VDC at 1A standby output and inverted control signals. Other options are available on request from the factory.
Manufactured in the company's ISO9001-certified facilities in North America, the AAD600S is ideal for telecom, process control, and other typical single-output OEM applications, measuring 9.0" (228.6mm) L x 4.0" (101.6mm) W x 1.59" (40.4mm) H. Aside from the obvious benefit of lower cost-per-Watt versus multiple output switchers, the single-output configuration allows the unit's full current rating to be applied to a single output voltage, versus "diluting" the unit's total rated power among multiple outputs.
Designed and manufactured for quick prototype delivery, the AAD600S allows customer modifications to the standard unit and is HALT tested (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) to verify design parameters and ensure immediate operation. The AAD600S is compliant with a number of US, Canadian and European standards. These include IEC1000-3-2 harmonic distortion requirements, EN61000-4 (Class 3) surge withstand, CISPR 11/ 22 and FCC Docket 20780 for EMI requirements, and compliance to the EEC Low Voltage Directive as well as the 60950 standards.
